The Watkinsville Garden Club was formed in 1940, and is dedicated to promoting appreciation of the natural beauty and preservation of the environment. 

The club's civic and beautification projects have included the planting of flowers, shrubs, and trees at local school grounds, the county courthouse, Watkinsville Cemetery, Harris Shoals Park, Eagle Tavern, the Oconee County Library, Herman C. Michael Park, Elder Mill Covered Bridge, and North High Shoals Park and Post Office. 

Ongoing projects of the garden club, such as the Junior Garden Club at Rocky Branch Elementary School, are described under "Projects."

The club meets on the first Thursday of each month, September through June, at 10 AM. The usual meeting place is the Union Christian Church, 1130 Union Church Road, Watkinsville, unless announced otherwise.
