Growing Palm Trees in Georgia

Presenter: Dr. Gary Wade

Dr. Wade is a retired professor from the University of Georgia where he worked as an Extension Specialist in the Department of Horticulture for 27 years. He developed programs and educational resources for county Extension agents and landscape professionals. He was the first State Coordinator of the Georgia Master Gardener Program, editing the first training manual and getting the program started in urban areas across the state. He helped form the Georgia Association of Landscape Professionals and developed the first statewide certification program for the landscape industry.

He authored over 50 Extension publications, over 20 Powerpoint presentations, and a series of training videos for landscape professionals. 

In retirement he volunteers at the State Botanical Garden and works with the Athens Area Master Gardeners, coordinating a Plant-a-Row for the Hungry garden at Farm 441.
